Livin' La Vida Lobo For November 7th!
Livin' La Vida Lobo
Nov 7, 2002
Hi, my name is Andy Anderson and wrestling is my drug.
Fair enough! Welcome back, or if this is your first time here welcome to my column, hope you enjoy it! Seems like it's been a whileso I'm not sure what I'll write about, I guess we'll see what
happens!
First off, continued thanks to all of you who have emailed me or written on the forum of this page. I must admit, I enjoy reading views and thoughts from fans as it pertains to me as well as wrestling in general. On top of that, I've been able to discuss movies and music with some of you which has been cool, so keep on writing!
Wrestling wise, let's start with WWE. This past Monday's Raw was one of the best one's in a while in my opinion. I think no mention of the Katie Vick angle was a good start. There were some great matches and I'm enjoying the buildup to the elimination chamber match at Survivor Series in two weeks. Plus, how funny is Chris Jericho? Good ol'
Canadian boy! Can't forget Booker and Goldust too
suckaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! I'm curious to see how Tough Enough grads Chris Nowinski and Maven will do together. And how about the "hardcore" match between Victoria and Trish at Survivor Series?? This match intrigues me. Trish seems to have a tremendous work ethic as evident by her constant in ring improvement while Victoria seems like one tough SOB. I'm sure they'll put forth a great match. What does the future hold for Shawn Michaels? Oh, and for the record, Chris Benoit is still the greatest wrestler in the world....being Canadian.... and being from Edmonton doesn't hurt either!!! :)
Here in Puerto Rico in the IWA, quite a bit has happened in the last few weeks. Stefano regained the jr. heavyweight title, Abyss is the new hardcore champion while Eric "Don't call me 'El
Gladiador'" Alexander captured his first Intercontinental title defeating Justin Sane. All these guys are tremendous talents and I'm happy for all of them. Our "boss", general manager Savio Vega has apparently been ousted after getting beaten to a bloody pulp last week in Bayamon by Shane and Victor the Bodyguard. Seems like the landscape of IWA may be in for a change in the next few weeks as we prepare for Hardcore Weekend. Speaking of "changing the landscape", a quick reminder to everyone here in PR that our TV shows have been moved. We are still on Saturday and Sunday, but from
3 to 5 pm. Be sure to check it out!
For those of you who know, or for those who have read this column before, I love food.... no, no, you don't understand, I LOOOOOOOOOVE food!!!! Besides the fact I eat every 2 1/2- 3 hours, I just love eating. I've recently had the pleasure of eating at a few amazing establishments and I'd love to share a few tidbits on each. First,"El Mexicano" in Aguas Buenas. This place is casual and has, you guessed it, mexican food. And damn is it good! I've been there a few times already and their churassco (skirt steak) and tacos are the bomb! I've tried both the hard shell taco and the soft shell taco with beef and they are unbelieveable! The food is made fresh and the flavor is outstanding. If you don't live in Aguas Buenas, I think it's worth the trip up there to try it.
On the fine dining end, I had the privilege of going to Mortons Steakhouse at the Caribe Hilton. If I'm not mistaken, Mortons has several restaurants throughout the mainland US and this place is phenomenal. I was hoping to have a prime rib, but unfortunately they were out. So, I went for a 24oz. Porterhouse steak and it was no match for El Lobo! I skipped out on appetizers so I could fully enjoy this tender steak that melted in my mouth! I did accompany that steak with potato skins which were huuuuuuuuge! They rivaled the potatoes of Ruby Tuesdays! And for dessert, I had a tremendous chocolate souflee. Words cannot describe this masterpiece! I inhaled it,complete with freshed whipped cream. I believe I have a few pics from that evening and hopefully I'll be able to post them here soon.
The second "fine dining experience" of the week was a restaurant at the Mariott. It was a lunch buffet and what an unbelieveable spread. Beef, chicken, steamed vegetables and a dessert table that brought me to my knees! Now I know many of you must be thinking, "hey, what about your diet?" and you're right. For the most part, I'm very good about it, but dining opportunities don't come along every day so I make the best of it. Anyways, back to the dessert table! Creme broulee, templace, custard, rice pudding, fresh fruit and pie. They were spread out on a round table and one lady working there offered to get me a chair with wheels so I could work my way areound the table. I agreed and she laughed. I think she was joking, but I wasn't! Anyways, thanks to my friend Cari for taking care of me on those fine dining excursions! (check out

Movies, movies, movies!! I've only seen a handful, but here's the
rundown, starting with in theatre movies first.
The Transporter with Jason Statham- This was a great action movie.
Fairly simple story, I called it a cross between a James Bond film
and a Jackie Chan movie. Gadgets and martial arts ass kicking!
The Ring- what a great suspense film! I wouldn't call it a flat out
horror movie as there's not a lot of killings or graphic gore. A
great story and for the record, it's been over 7 days since I've seen
it and I'm still alive! (whew!)
Knockaround Guys- with Seth Green and Vin Diesel. A mafia story
which wasn't exactly what I expected, not that that's a bad thing.
From the previews, I expected more action and comedy. This story had
the mafia dealings intertwined with a father/son conflict. Vin Diesel
is a good tough guy in this one.
For DVD's, I haven't really rented much, although I did acquire the
comedy classics "Stripes" and "Cannonball Run",
each thanks to WalMart! Speaking of DVD's , November is going to
be an expensive month for purchasing movies! Spiderman is out (great
movie), Star Wars episode 2 (great movie)comes out next week, the
animated Ice Age (great movie) comes out mid month as does the
special edition Lord of the Rings (great movie). You can bet whatever
I don't buy will be on my Christmas list!... I hope santa reads my
column!
In sports, more specifically hockey, I see the Edmonton Oilers, who
had a solid pre season, are just flat out sucking. I think they've
only won three games this season and I hope they turn things around
soon. In CFL (that's Canadian Football League for those who don't
know), the Edmonton Eskimos who finished first in the west, received
a bye to the semi finals. I'll keep you all posted on the playoffs.
Go green and gold!!!!
Before I sign off, I'd like to address one question I get often,
both in emails and in person is "do you like Puerto Rico?".
I thought I would give a list of things I like about the "island
of enchantment". They're in no particular order, I'm just going
off the top of my head.
THINGS I LIKE ABOUT PUERTO RICO
*It's always warm here. Anyplace I can walk around in shorts and
sandals on a daily basis has got to be good.
*The wrestling. The IWA is great, we wrestle 4 times a week, we have
a great crew, great fans and great TV. I think it also helps that
wrestling is my life.
*The food. See above where I loooooooove eating! There is some great
food here on the island and I must often exercise control when I'm
eating out.
*The women. There are a lot, and I mean a lot of beautiful women
here. From all the beautiful women in the gym in the morning, to the
streets, the malls, the theatres, the restaurants and our shows, they
are EVERYWHERE. Do I talk to them? No, sorry, to shy, no guts. But
they are great to look at!
*Gilligans Island. This hidden treasure is a small beach off the
mainland where I go with a few friends every once in a while and this
place is heaven!
I guess that could be an unofficial top 5, but believe me there's
more and I'll bring them up in the future.
Well, in the mean time and in between time, that's it... another
edition of "Livin' La Vida Lobo" (respects to Ed Whalen).
Take care and talk to you in 10-14.
